This instrument is used as a prop in classical Ryukyuan dance.
It is called yotsudake because it has two pieces of bamboo in each hand, four pieces in total.

The two pieces of bamboo are struck together like castanets to produce a sound.

四つ竹（よつだけ）
琉球古典舞踊の小道具として用いるられる楽器です。
両手に2枚づつ、合計4枚の竹片を持つことから四つ竹といいます。

2枚の竹片をカスタネットのように打ち合わせ音を出します。
